What Is the Inner and Outer Master?
In ECK, there is the principle of the Inner and Outer Master. The Outer Master is myself as the spiritual leader of Eckankar. But there is also an inner part, which we call the Inner Master, who gives spiritual instruction to each person as he or she needs it.

The first spiritual autobiography I ever read about oneâs journey to God was Autobiography of a Yogi, by Paramahansa Yogananda, a powerful and moving personal story. Harold Klemp goes so much further itâs staggering.
Contrary to expectations, the God Realization experience Harold describes is not near the end of the book, but smack dab in the middle. And rather than describing it as a heavenly experience of Truth, Beauty, Goodness, Wisdom, Charity, and Divine Loveâas we would expectâhe charts it as thunderous, booming, crashing, crushing, cleansing, scouring, washing, churning, boilingâprovoking from him cries of anguish, and being cradled in fierce love. Thereâs more, but I wonât spoil it.
Suffice to say that what follows is one of the most intimate exposures of the consequences of God Realization for the person back in his body, attempting to make sense of the social world. What strikes me is the incredible humility required to share such intimate stories, at once embarrassing and revelatory.
